Sleep has a direct relation with weight control. A healthy individual requires a daily sleep of at least 8-9 hours. When your sleep goes down it affects your metabolism, weight control and some harmones. Check this out

METABOLISM GOES DOWN: In a sleep deprived individual metabolism is reduced by around 15%.

LEPTIN GOES DOWN AND GHRELIN GOES UP: Leptin and ghrelin are the two important harmone related to appetite and sleep. Lack of sleep is associated with decreased leptin and increased ghrelin levels that lead to increased hunger and appetite, leading to weight gain and a higher risk of obesity.

CORTISOL GOES UP: When sleep decreases it intensifies body's cortisol concentration---the stress response harmone. Disrupted levels not only impact sleep but also other aspects of health like change in metabolism, weight gain, inflammation, headache, anxiety and depression.

WEIGHT GOES UP: Sleeping less than 7-8 hours appears to increase hunger and appetite, particularly calorie dense food that are high in carbohydrates. Studies have shown a link between sleep restriction and weight gain.

So, if you are working to reduce weight you must first work on your sleep so that you have a smooth weight loss journey:)
